As part of the CKN network, I get to speak to church leaders about the role of communications in their building projects. Through that relationship, I've met my new friend, Michael Trent. Michael owns Third Place Consulting - working with churches and others to create effective third place environments. He calls himself "the church bartender." I love that! And I wish I could get away with looking as cool as Michael looks...(hair spiky, not shaved...all that).
Check out his blog with a report from WFX. I'm adding Michael to my "blogs I should read" list. See...it's over there on the sidebar!
Evan,
It's always a blast to chillaxe with you my friend. Thought I'd share where 'the church bartender' came from: while serving at my original cafe, Third Place Cafe in Corona, CA - on a night where the campus was full of Celebrate Recovery people, one guy who was obviously 'spirit(s)-filled' came up to get a drink and said, "Holy Sh**, you're like the F***** church bartender. If I had a F**** church bartender, I'd go to church here" So that night, the church bartender was born.
Oh, did I mention that he shared about how crappy his life was and that we shared war stories and the prayed together. Yeah, I think that makes me an ordained church bartender or something like that.......
